At the National Board of Forensic Medicine, experts in forensic medicine, forensic chemistry, forensic genetics, and forensic psychiatry collaborate to provide the justice system with the answers it needs. We are now looking for laboratory summer interns for the forensic chemistry unit in Linköping. The unit works with several advanced analytical techniques such as LC-MS-MS, LC-QTOF, and immunochemistry. The unit is divided into several groups and operates on behalf of, among others, the Police Authority, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, and the forensic medicine department. Within the unit, there is high competence, a broad educational background, and high-quality internal training. We place great emphasis on a good working environment with adapted facilities and collaboration among colleagues.

Your Mission

We are looking for someone who enjoys practical laboratory work. The position involves independent work in the ongoing routine operations with a focus on analyses of alcohol, drugs, and narcotics in biological material. The work includes both laboratory and administrative tasks. Here you will be able to use your technical and laboratory skills. You will work independently but also collaborate daily with colleagues across the unit.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • You have completed at least three semesters of a natural science higher education or university program that the employer deems relevant for the work.
  • Since our management system and our instructions are formulated in Swedish, you must have very good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.

Meritorious:

  • Current experience of similar tasks and the techniques we use.

Personal Qualities and Abilities

The work requires that you are meticulous and quality-conscious. It is also important that you have good collaboration skills, a flexible approach, and that you enjoy routine work.

Employment

The employment is temporary for about 10 weeks with start during week 23 or 24. Working hours are normally scheduled on weekdays with the possibility of flexible working hours. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting.

The Department of Forensic Genetics and Forensic Chemistry (RG/RK) analyzes samples to identify the deceased, establish paternity, and trace and determine the concentration of alcohol, narcotics, drugs, and doping agents. The department is located in Linköping and consists of four units: the forensic genetics laboratory unit, the forensic chemistry laboratory unit, the investigation unit, and the operational support unit.
